Part 2 : https://the-hearthveil-stories.blogspot.com/2025/06/grow-better-3-habits-for-self.html
Today, we’re diving into four simple, easy-to-follow, yet deeply powerful habits to help you step fully into your self-care era. These habits aren’t complicated or time-consuming but if you stick with them, you’ll start to notice big changes in how you feel, think, and show up for yourself every day.
Habit 7 : Working for yourself
Working for yourself means showing up for your goals and dreams, even when it’s difficult, and choosing your long-term growth over short-term comfort that is self-care. If you're a student, studying isn't just about marks; it's about respecting your future self. When you choose to open a book instead of scrolling through your phone, you're sending yourself a message: "You matter. Your dreams matter." That single choice is self-love in its purest form. And if you're working toward something uncertain, something risky, every small step you take is you saying, "I believe in the life I imagine, and I am worth it." That belief is powerful. That belief is healing. You’re not just chasing success you’re protecting your potential, honoring your future, and proving to yourself that you’re worth every bit of effort. So if you truly want those straight A’s, that dream job, or that version of yourself you see in your vision board, you need to start working not just dreaming. Because dreaming without action won’t change your life. The life you want begins when you stop wishing and start doing. And trust me, your future self is already proud of you for trying.
Habit 8: Reading
Reading is such a beautiful habit to include in your self-care journey, and honestly, it's so much better than spending hours scrolling on your phone. If you’re just getting started, it might feel a bit boring and that’s okay! Start small. Try reading for just one minute a day and slowly build it up. Even 15 to 20 minutes a day can make a big difference. Reading boosts your knowledge, improves focus, and supports your mental and emotional well-being. It’s also my personal go-to trick when I can’t fall asleep a few pages and I feel so relaxed and sleepy. There are plenty of amazing books that can help with self-improvement, both mentally and physically. Now, just a small heads-up: while entertainment books like fiction, crime thrillers, or dark romance are fun and totally your choice to enjoy, I suggest being a bit careful with them during exam time or when you’ve got something urgent to focus on. From my own experience, they can be super addictive I once got so caught up in a novel during my exams that I couldn’t concentrate on anything else, and it affected my results. So it’s just a little warning not to avoid them completely, but to be mindful about when you read them. During busy or focused seasons, self-help or motivational books might be a better choice to stay on track and inspired. Whatever you choose, reading with intention is one of the most empowering habits you can build.
Habit 9: Limiting screen time
Limiting Screen Time is one of the most important but often overlooked habits in a self-care journey. Now, I know many of us study or work using our phones, so let me make something clear not all screen time is bad. We can divide it into two types: productive and unproductive. Productive screen time includes studying, working towards your goals, reading e-books, or attending online classes. Unproductive screen time, on the other hand, includes binge-watching, endless scrolling, and getting distracted by unnecessary notifications. The real issue starts when unproductive screen time takes over your day. It’s often the reason you struggle to focus or find it hard to leave your comfort zone. Scrolling feels easy too easy and that’s why we do it for hours without realizing how much precious time we're wasting. That’s time you could have used to work toward your dreams. A simple trick is to avoid using your phone for about 30 to 45 minutes after waking up, during meals, and at least one hour before sleeping. If you're using a screen to read or learn peacefully before bed, that’s totally fine especially if it's helping you grow. And if you're someone who scrolls endlessly, don't worry you don’t have to quit cold turkey. Just try reducing your screen time gradually. Step by step, you'll take back control over your time, energy, and focus.
Habit 10: Do One Thing You Love Every Day
Doing something you love daily brings inner joy that routines or achievements alone can’t replace. Whether it’s dancing, singing, or skincare do what lights up your soul. For me, it’s dancing. It brings me so much happiness. Whenever I feel gloomy or tired, I dance for a while, and it instantly lifts my mood. I feel energetic, alive, and free.Doing something you genuinely enjoy helps your mind relax, and even 10 minutes can calm your nervous system. It refreshes your energy and brings clarity and peace. Passion-based activities like this boost your creativity and motivation, helping you stay more focused in other areas, like studying or work. And if you have a busy schedule, that’s totally okay. You don’t need to do it daily even three times a week is enough to bring joy and keep you emotionally balanced. The goal is to connect with yourself and give your heart what it loves most.
FINALLY, If you’ve read all the way through these 10 habits, I just want to say I’m proud of you. It means you truly care about yourself and want to become better, and that’s something to admire. These habits may seem small, but when done with love and consistency, they can create big changes in your life. Remember, self-care isn’t about being perfect it’s about showing up for yourself, even on the hard days. You don’t have to change everything overnight. Start slow, stay consistent, and believe in the person you’re becoming. You are worth the time, effort, and care it takes to grow. Don’t let self-doubt or fear stop you. Keep going, keep trying, and most importantly keep believing in yourself. The best version of you is already on the way. Keep blooming. You’ve got this.
SELF-LOVE NEVER QUITS. NEITHER SHOULD YOU......
